A girl on my fb posted a link to a blog entry from this cop in St. Louis who wants everyone to know he’s a nice guy and he’s still going about his normal routine, making sure to specifically cite instances when he was nice to black people, & she was like, “Wow see we need more stories like this, support our police officers, can’t believe this gets overlooked by the biased news outlets who only publicize a few extorted stories!”

Just like

And yeah okay positivity, whatever, hooray. But the main source of info from Ferguson has been twitter??? And idk, all the rest of her posts are pics and boring shit about her perfect white family and her infant son who’s apparently following right in his daddy’s military footsteps -already- so yeah I see the angle she’s looking from but it’s mighty narrow

Sometimes I think racism (and like narrow-mindedness) occupies a really troubled minority of the population… But times like this… Idk what the hell is wrong with this planet?

Magical Paths Begging To Be Walked

Roads and paths pervade our literature, poetry, artwork, linguistic expressions and music. Even photographers can’t keep their eyes (and lenses) off of a beautiful road or path, which is why we collected this list of 28 amazing photos of paths.

Paths like these have a powerful grip on the human imagination – they can bring adventure, promise and change or solitude, peace and calm. There’s nothing like a walk down a beautiful path to clear your head – or to fill it with ideas!

I’ll leave you with an excellent quote from J. R. R. Tolkien’s works while you enjoy these images; “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Chaos in Ferguson. Sunday night, part 4

[part 1] [part 2] [part 3

Reminder that:

- no, this isn’t over;
- no, these aren’t from earlier in the week;
- no, everything isn’t alright now;
- no, the police haven’t stopped brutalizing peaceful protesters;
- no, police haven’t intervened to stop the looting;
- no, police haven’t responded to emergency 911 calls for people injured by rubber bullets or children hit by cars;
- no, michael brown’s shooter still has not faced any consequences for murdering an unarmed teenager 9 days ago

St Louis police officers arrest Hedy Epstein, 90 year old Holocaust survivor, for “failure to disperse” following protest of police brutality in Ferguson, MO.
"I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager. I didn’t think I would have to do it when I was ninety. We need to stand up today so that people won’t have to do this when they’re ninety."

Eric Standley: 3D Laser Cut Paper Art, "stained glass"

Eric Standley is an artist and educator currently living and working in Virginia. In his incredible series of 3D laser cut paper art, Standley’s work is found at the intersection of art, technology, history and mathematics.

His vector drawings were initially inspired by the geometry in Gothic and Islamic architectural ornamentation. The pieces are painstakingly assembled from laser-cut paper, layered to create elaborate 3-D works of art. Often these works are created using well over 100 layers of paper and can take months of planning and drawing. The result is so intricately detailed that the pieces must be viewed from multiple perspectives to be fully appreciated.
